Design Wall Monday, October 4

Good Morning, Everyone!  How was your week end.  I hope you got in some quiting time.

On my design wall are these lovely blocks that I made from 1 1/2" strips.

I took the strips from my first beginner's class on Wednesday (they were cut from fat quarters, so they were about 11" long) and cut each strip set into two 3 1/2" X 5" blocks, then I put the little square in the middle.

Now, I'll cut some more strips and do up another quilt top to send to Alycia for a QOV quilt.

I still have to put borders on this quilt that I finished the other day.  I think I'm going to go with a 2 1/2" brown border, then a 4" border pieced with strips.

I'm hoping we can stay home a little this week.  We've been running, running, running!  Not compared to some of you ladies, but for us, it feels like we're running a lot.  I cannot tell you how much I feel blessed to be a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom.  It's like blessing heaped on blessing (with a little reality thrown in for good measure).

Have a quilty day!

1 1/1 strips, yikes those are small.

Yes, sometimes we yearn for at home time. We are off running again. Hug your blessings often.

I know what you mean about the running. I miss being a stay at home mom. Dragging my sorry butt to work at 5 am really cuts into my quilt time.

This is the time of year I start to feel the urge to be home and snuggled in. I love the blue and brown blocks. They are simple and so pretty. I bet the beginners were so impressed!!

Love your blocks - and agree with Kathie: they are small! But everything has its place and nothing gets wasted - sooner or later I have to address mt 1 1/2 strips as well...
Hope you'll find some peace and quiet this week.

Those turned out SUPER cute. You said you made a block and I thought HOW? WOW!!!

I like your blue and brown blocks. Not sure I could work with inch and a half strips. That is small.

I do understand about the running. It actually gets worse as they get older. Volleyball and swim practice during the week, volleball matches and swim meets on the weekend. But it doesn't last forever, it just seems that way sometimes!
