Giveaways...Yes, More Than One!

Hello all my blog friends!

Those of you who follow my blog know that I've been complaining a lot lately about not feeling good.  Sorry you've had to listen to it, lol.

I'm trying to stop complaining and give myself a kick in the rear to just get going.

So, yesterday I spent quite a bit of time going through my stash.

I'm getting rid of a LOT of fabric.

I'm finding that my tastes are changing and I'm finding that when I look at my fabric, it just doesn't inspire me to quilt anymore.  I find myself feeling guilty thinking that I should be using up old fabric, not buying new.

This is a hobby for me...a passion, yes...but still a hobby.  I want to have fun.  I want my fabric to inspire me, not drag me down.

So, I've decided to pack up some priority flat rate boxes with fabric that doesn't inspire me and send it on to you.

There was someone who packed up a flat rate box and the person who won was supposed to take what they wanted, add some more and send it on.  I could do something like that, or I could just send it to you.

I already have two boxes stuffed full of fabric and I'm not done going through my fabric, so maybe I'll do a couple of "pay it forward" boxes and a couple of "keep it all" boxes.

So, what do you guys think?  Would you like a few more "pay it forward" boxes running around out there, or do you just want "keep it all" boxes?

Addendum:

Looks like several of you are up for some "pay it forward" boxes, so here are the final rules:
  1. Leave your comment.  Make sure if you don't have a blog of if you're a "no reply" blogger that you leave your email in the comment.
  2. If you win, you may either "keep it all" or "pay it forward" (whatever that means to you).
  3. Have fun and good luck, everyone!
I'll cut comments off at 10 pm (central time) on Sunday evening (February 13th) and draw the winners from the comments.  The number of winners will be determined by the number of boxes that I have stuffed.  The more boxes, the more chances that you all have to win.

The boxes will contain mostly fat quarters, but there will be some smaller pieces.  The fabric should all be 100% cotton, but there may be some blends in there.  It is from all sources.  Most of it is quilt shop quality, but there is also some less expensive fabric as well.

If you're a "pay it forward" winner, you may run your giveaway however you like.  My suggestion is to go through the box and keep anything you like, then repack it adding anything from your stash that you wish to pay forward.  If you want to add patterns, notions, or other items, you might consider that as well.  Then, have a giveaway on your blog and keep the box going.  It will be fun to see if we can watch the boxes bounce around blogland, lol.

Good luck, everyone, and I'll be working hard to get through all my stash!

I think pay it forward is a brilliant idea! There are bound to be ones that you like and ones that you don't really care for, why not send them on to someone who might like them more?

I totally agree with the pay it forward boxes to receive, ship and share! Count me in your lovely giveaway!

I'm thinking you have a very GOOD idea! We in northern Mn are too suffering..I think it's this long, cold , winter! Brrr!
I'm will to do a PIF... I have lots to send onto others too!
That's one small way to weed some out!

My "stash" is quite small so would choose a win and keep - especially since have no blog to use for a PIF.

I love the idea of the PIF. One girl's trash is another's treasure! I don't have a very large stash, but I do have a few fabrics that I'm no longer in love with, and perhaps someone down the line would like them.

That is a really generous idea! If you wanted you could send out some and "trade" too...that is a fun thing.
I have the same problem...some that doesn't inspire me, or that I am too afraid to use cause I don't want to mess it up!LOL! I know right?
Either way, I would do a PIF too!

I love the idea of a pay it forward box. You could always put a note inside of them that it is a keeper box or a pay it forward box, and mix them up and mail them, then whoever gets it won't know what they are getting also. I love this idea!!!!

I love the idea of "pay it forward". Not sure how I will do that as I don't have a blog but I will figure that out if I win. Thanks for the giveaway.

I'm one of your blog stalkers...I don't have an active blog...no time :(

I like the idea of the PIF but wouldn't be able to do that. I just really wanted to say hi!

I like the idea of PIF but I don't have a blog and wouldn't know where to send it next! I do a lot of charity quilting and could make very good use of whatever could be sent.

I've never heard of PIF before. It's a promising idea though. But I don't have a stash. I only have what I am using on hand. Or try to find something to make and give it away.

I would participate in the PIF box. I'm a bit of an Ebay junkie, and when I started quilting, I bought too many "bakery" items than I needed for my projects. Thanks for having a giveaway!

I think it's great. Clean start and a way for someone else to make something that speaks to their heart. I have plenty to pay forward myself, and would love to play along! Sure hope you get feeling better real soon!

I really want to do the PIF option, but I don't have a blog. A fabric swap would be lots of fun! Could we maybe do it like a chain letter -everyone that responds that they want to PIF goes on a list with address. You randomly generate the order, and send the box (and the list) to #1, then #1 swaps for what she wants and sends it to #2, et cetera, until the box gets back to you! If you don't just love the fabric you get back, you could send it to one of the responders who does not have a "stash" yet.

I would love to have a blog and hundreds of adoring fans like you :) But with going back to school fulltime and other commitments I'm not sure when I'll find the time. Maybe when I retire . . . but wait! I DID that 2.5 years ago and I'm busier now than when I actually got paid for my labors! Just what is wrong with this picture???

Will it be "coordinated" and enough to make a small quilt?

This is a fun idea. I don't have a blog of my own to pass it forward, but I do have a brand new to quilting friend that would like some extras. I've been collecting a few patterns and even some clover yoyo makers to give her, so will add some of the stash should I win. THanks for your generousity.

Tamera, I love the idea of the pay-it-forward boxes!! Get something new to inspire you and unload some unloved fabrics (and the guilt) to send on to someone else. YEA!!!!

Fun idea...I have a niece who is wanting to quilt. She has five little ones and can't afford lots of fabric. She wanted some advice on getting quality fabric and building up a small stash. This might be just the thing for me to help her out. I have given her fabric for two quilts for her daughters and she has that all sewn....I'm trying to encourage her.

Oh, oh, pick me! This sounds like a lot of fun. Who know what I could find to add to a pay-it-forward box?

That's a great idea--I'd love to play. Winning would be awesome---rootle through the box, find something I DON'T have in my stash--and then fill it with some of MY stuff. Give it away to the next person! Woohoo! Great idea Tamera!

What a great idea. I make a lot of 'quilts for humanity' so my PIF would be in the form of a quilt hug for others - oh, I guess that would make them group hugs!

Sorry that you haven't be feeling well. Be patient with yourself.
