I don't know about you all, but I have been feeling so productive this last week!

I finished another quilt. This one was for my son. It's been around for a while and he's been "patiently" waiting for mom to finish it.

Sorry about the photo, lol. It's wash your sheets day!

On Friday, my hubby and Miss Mariah surprised me with flowers. Rainbow Roses! Have you every heard of them? They were just lovely!

 Last night, I finished a couple of Butterfly Blocks for my 1930s swap group. They should make for an interesting swap!

 And, this morning, I finished up a couple of blocks that I'm going to make a Rooster Pin Cushion out of.

We'll be doing this all together at Stitchin' Sisters tomorrow night. Can't wait to see my Sistas!

On my design wall this morning are a couple of blocks I'm doing for a sampler quilt for my sister.

The line is Botany, which is probably all gone in most stores. When I started this quilt, it was way out of my comfort zone, but that was a while ago and now I really like it!

On my design wall this morning are some sampler blocks that I'm doing for a beginner's quilting class.

I joined it so that I could take my friend and I have been enjoying it so much! Even when you've been quilting for a while, going to a beginner's class is really fun, I think. You meet new people; you hear all about how others teach; and at the end, you have a finished quilt! What more could you ask for?

We're working from one of Eleanor Burns' Quilter's Almanac series.

On my design wall this morning is a quilt that I'm quilting for my bestie, Jo. Not only is she one of my besties, she's a sister from our Stitchin' Sisters guild.

This is a Yellow Brick Road quilt and it turned out just beautiful. Jo is going to use this as a donation quilt.

I'm quilting it with these large cabbage roses and ribbons. It's been fun to quilt.

On my design wall this morning is a Jelly Roll Race quilt.

I've been working on Jelly Roll Race quilts for a bit now. I've done several.

I start with a Jelly Roll that I am able to buy at a reasonable price and then I make them up. They're quick and fun and they turn out so nice!

Also, I thought I would like to show you my master list. It's full right now.

This is the list of all the things that I need to get done...all the things I'm actively working on right now, lol,

I'm really fighting the feeling of being overwhelmed, but I'm doing pretty well, I think.

I'm REALLY loving quilting for others and I'm learning fast.

Design Wall Monday - June 25, 2012

On my design "table" this morning is Todd's Wedding Quilt.

Yes, I know that Todd already got married in June, but I'm going to get it done by the time his younger brother gets married in August!

So, of course, I have a wedding quilt to do for him as well, lol.

Design Wall Monday

One my design wall this morning is the quilt I am quilting on Emily.

It one of the first quilts of one of my good friends.

I LOVE the thought of doing a person's first quilt!

This is a friend that I am attending a beginner's quilting class with. I had planned on taking the class with my daughter because the quilt that they were doing is a sampler quilt that I really wanted to do. I knew that she wouldn't go if I didn't go alone to a beginner's class, so I invited her to go with us.

She is SO excited!

After the first class, she bought fabric so that she could make another sampler quilt at home at the same time.

THEN, she decided that she wanted to do another quilt, so I gave her a fat quarter pack and she started a Yellow Brick Road quilt (which she has almost finished).

Design Wall Monday - March 5, 2012

On my design wall today is a practice piece.

I'm practicing channel quilting and I made up this practice piece to see what it looked like.

First I started by doing 45º angles together, but that didn't give me the look I wanted.

Then, I tried 45º and 60º criss-crossing...

That was more what I wanted...A diamond shaped crossing.

Here's a close up that shows the different things I tried and how I labeled them.

This was such a useful exercise! I got to see how my piece would look before I did it.

It's a lot better than what I usually do...Just fly over the cliff without looking and hope I don't fall too far, he he he. Maybe I'm growing up!?!?!?!

On another note, my HQ Sweet Sixteen is shipping TODAY! I am so excited, I can barely contain myself!

I really want to get some of my tops basted this week so I can just jump right in and quilt as soon as it gets here.

Design Wall Monday - February 27, 2012

On my design wall this morning is an applique piece.

This is a piece that we're doing for Stitchin' Sisters (the guild we started in 2011). We're a group of mostly beginner quilters, so we're learning new techniques this year.

On this piece, we're learning applique, on point setting and we'll be paper piecing the border.

We'll also be learning borders, free motion quilting, and binding together.

Design Wall Monday - February 13, 2012

On my design wall this morning is fabric.

This is the border that I bought for the Color Palette Challenge...

I'm not a wine drinker, but I thought that it matched the palette perfectly!

Here is the fabric that I have so far...

I think I need some green...and a pattern, lol.

I have been thinking and thinking and I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Got any ideas?

Design Wall Monday - 2/6/12

On my design wall this morning is a tiny little twister quilt that I'm making for my Step-MIL.

She and my FIL allowed us to use their hunting lodge for our guild's retreat without charging us. It was awesome! AND, her birthday is on Valentine's Day.

So, I decided to make her this little table topper.

Please note the messy cutting table with math pages and thank-you notes littering the sides, lol.

To give you an idea how small this little quilt is...

It was made using 3½" squares...teeny tiny, but not the smallest available, lol.

And, for the cuteness factor...

This is Lilac, the baby guinea pig. Isn't she just too cute for words????

Design Wall Monday - 3/14/11

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!  What's on your design wall?

My design wall is still covered with High Cotton blocks.  I'm up to 33 blocks now, so that's fun!

These are a few of my favorites.

I've also started working on my Monochromatic challenge.  The color for March is brown.

I've modeled this quilt after Bricks and Stepping Stones by Bonnie Hunter, only instead of 4 patches, I'm using 3.5" squares.

The other project I'm working on is these little sewing kits for my 4-H girls.  They went together really quickly and I just have to sew on a few buttons before this afternoon.  I'm going to teach them to sew on buttons and also to do simple repairs when a seam comes out in their shirts.

Design Wall Monday, February 21

On my design wall this morning are two things.

First is my FINISHED Hummingbird top!  YEAH!  Well, to be completely honest, I guess I need to decide what to do with the border, lol...OH NO!  Another border quandary!

I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  It was the PERFECT project to bring on the retreat.  I think if I hadn't brought it on the retreat, I would never had finished it.

Now, I'll be working on my Monochromatic top for this month.  Here's a photo of the fabrics that I found in my stash.

It will be fun, I think.  I have a plan for it and I don't think it will take that long to get it sewn up.

Design Wall Monday - 2/14/11 and Giveaway Winners!

Good morning, Ladies!

On my design wall this morning is my Shangri-La quilt...still.

I was hoping to get the borders on, but I just didn't feel like sewing this weekend...GRRR!

Anyway, hopefully today.  I'm going with the blue border.  Thanks everyone for all your help.  My girls still think I should use the red, but I've decided I'm looking for less of a statement, lol.

So far, I have three boxes stuffed with fabric, so I drew three winners on Random.org.  I know this is supposed to be random, but geesh!  The winners were 38, 39, and 32.  That was weird.

The first winner is my mom!  YEAH, MOM!  How funny is that?  She entered last night.  My mom just started quilting, so this will be a stash builder for her and I'm SO excited.

Design Wall Monday - 2/7/11

This morning on my design wall is UFO #10, Shangri-La Disappearing 9 Patch.

This is such a fun pattern and as you may remember, Shangri-La is my all-time favorite fabric line.

My goal is to finish this quilt completely this month as it was in a mostly pieced state when I started.  I only added a row to the width.

I'm planning on putting a small brown border and then a larger blue or green floral border to finish it off.  Then this little beauty is going on the couch in the downstairs family room so I don't have to send my kiddos after my quilt on my bed every time I sit down to watch TV and I want a quilt to snuggle under!

I didn't realize how many stripes I used until it was all finished.   This was pieced before I had the benefit of a design wall, but I'm such a scrappy gal, I'm not sure I would have taken the time to put it on the design wall even if I'd had it.

I kind of like just putting a quilt together and seeing how it looks in the end...that's part of the mystery for it for me.  Isn't it funny how we're all different?
