On my Design Wall this morning is the beginnings of my Wonky Town quilt.
This is my UFO for Judy's UFO Challenge. I would like to finish the top by the end of January.
The houses are ones that I won in the Block Lotto last fall and I'm making trees and the letters, "Wonky Town" to finish the quilt. I saw this quilt that someone had made and I thought it was SO cute!
Make sure you check out Judy's blog to find out what everyone else is up to this week.
Also...MATH ALERT...MATH ALERT...MATH ALERT
I was asked by someone how I figure how much fabric I use when doing applique. I'm not sure how you guys do it, but I'm a math buff, so I have fun with it.
A yard of fabric is 1512 sq in (36"X42"). I figure out how much I used. For example if I cut out three shapes on three rectangles of about 4"X6", that would be about 12"X18" of fabric or 216 sq in. I divide 216/1512 which is 0.14 yard. Then I keep that in my spreadsheet and report it on Sunday!

I love the background colors. Hope your night went well.
Love the wonky houses and trees, will be fun to see this one done.
This will be a cute town! Love it! Liz
Your town will be adorable. Wonky is good! Thanks for stopping by my blog & my wonky settings! Sue
I love everything about this quilt so far... great colours!
What a great quilt that is going to be. Letters are so fun on quilts.
I am glad you noted there was a math alert. I am allergic to math so I took a benedryl before reading further LOL. Must be why I stay with social sciences.
I am doing house blocks for an exchange next month. Those blocks are adorable!
Love your design wall. Glad you like math!!
Very cute wonky blocks. It's going to make up to be a great quilt.
I calculate my yardage usage the same way you do (especially when using scraps). It works really well.
The wonky blocks look great - you are making good progress on your UFO. I measure my fabric the same way, but round to the nearest 1/8 yard because I figure the rest usually winds up in the scrap bins and I don't count it again when I take it from there.
Very fun project! That's a great UFO to work on :)
Ok Tamera, I am so JEALOUS!! I joined the block lotto after seeing the wonky house month. I LOVE LOVE LOVE house quilts. Anyway, I will enjoy watching your little village grow.
P.S. I also loved the trees we did in Dec and really wanted to win them.
Thanks for joining the Dorinda Mystery. My first block is on the drawing board and may appear this week.
Super cute Wonky Town!! Love it.
