You Know You're Having a Bad Day When...

Right after dinner yesterday, the neighbor and his daughter came walking up our driveway.

"That's odd," I thought.

My hubby went out to see what happened...assuming that they had broken down on the road.

When we went to the end of the driveway, this is what we saw...

He had driven off into the slough!

Thankfully, neither he nor his daughter were hurt and the guys were able to pull it out with a tractor.

Here we go....

Through the water...

Back on dry ground!

The combine from the dark lagoon!!!!!

Never a dull moment at our house!

Believe it or not, the neighbors cleaned off the combine, greased her up, and combined with her later that day, lol.  No rest for the wicked during harvest season!

On the home front, my daughter Sophia was bitten by a cat later that evening.  I thought she might have to have rabies shots, but we found the cat, so no shots for my little Sophie, thank goodness...just antibiotics for the infection.

Hoping to post some quilt pictures tomorrow!

Hope you had a quilty day.

ADDENDUM:

My good friend Dawn asked me why they didn't just pull the combine backwards out of the slough.

Let me show you, lol.

There's water on BOTH sides of the road at this spot!  They did try and pull back, but it was necessarily at an angle, so they could tell right away that wouldn't work and they decided to pull the combine forward through the water.

I'm Still Alive

Well, ladies. I've been going through a dry spell, but I'm getting my groove back.

I've been quilting for a week or so now, so I think it's going to stick.

I'll post some pics on Monday, I think. Tomorrow, my hubby is taking us to the Peace Gardens. Should be fun.

Design Wall Monday, March 15th

Well, I'm going to post a what's on my design wall! It's about time! I'm still not feeling very well, but I'm trying my best to get back in the swing of things.

This is the start of a Moda Bake Shop quilt that can be found here.

I'm using Hello Betty and I think it's going to turn out really cute. Of course, it's really easy and quick, so that helps since I'm just not up to a complicated quilt right now.

Make sure you skip over to Judy's blog and see what everyone else is up to today.

Finally...Some Quilting Done

I finally got some quilting done! I finished the Bricks and Stepping Stones flimsy! I think it turned out nicely.

I really like this pattern. It's Bonnie Hunt's pattern and you can make one, too. Just click here.

I have a couple of quilts basted that I want to quilt in the next few days.

I'm also going to make another quilt very similar to this one for my brother-in-law. I want to make it for Christmas.

Design Wall Monday, Feb 22

Well, not much has changed around here. I have more blocks done, but it's still slow going!

Thanks everyone for all the encouragement you've given me. It really helps!

I haven't added any rows to the top yet, but I have lots of blocks made up...

several rows that are ready to add...

and lots of pieces ready to assemble...

I have pieces/parts everywhere, lol...

...so I'll have more than enough for the top I'm making and the start of another top that I think I'll make for my BIL for Christmas...or maybe, I'll give it to him for his birthday in May?

Make sure you check out Judy's site to find out what everyone else is up to!

Stash Report...Well, More Like Confession Time

OK, ladies. They say that confession is good for the soul, so here goes.

SOMEBODY STOP ME!

I haven't been feeling well, so I haven't been quilting, but I want to be quilting, so I've been buying fabric!!!!! UGGGGG!

I KNOW that I have a tendency to do that...after all, it's how I got such a big stash to begin with...and I STILL did it again!

GRRRRR!

NO MORE eBAY!!!!!!!!

OK, I feel better now.

Wind Up for the Weekend, Feb 19

What's everyone planning on doing this weekend? Anyone going on a retreat? Anyone planning on being snowed in and quilting all weekend? We all want to know!

I'm planning on working on decluttering this weekend. It's actually getting done this time...after ALL the times that I have resolved to "get my house in order" this time, it seems as if it's finally happening.

The basement is finished, and now we're going through the upstairs and finding a place for everything...throwing out things we don't need/want/use...deep cleaning cabinets, drawers, etc. It's been going well, even though we've all had colds and haven't been 100%.

I am hoping to get some quilting in this weekend, though. I'm planning on getting my Bricks and Stepping Stones to the border stage. I already know what I'm going to do for borders, so it should go quickly once I get there.

Leave a link and let us know what you'll be doing this weekend!

Design Wall Monday, Feb 15

Well, I have been sewing a little...not very much, but a little.

One of my best friends has asked me to make a quilt for her hubby, so I'm working on that.

I have decided that I need to make some quilts for the men in my life in 2010...one for my hubby, my brothers, my step-father, etc.  Most of the quilts that I have made in the past have been very "girlie."

So, here's that start of my Bricks and Stepping Stones quilt:

As you can see, I'm making it with blue "bricks" and brown and cream "stepping stones."

Many of these blue prints are from a whole PILE of bricks that my friend Lori sent me...thanks, Lori...and a lot of them are Civil War Reproduction prints that I have, so they do tend to be more masculine.

Make sure you check out Judy's blog to see what everyone else is up to this week!.

Wind Up for the Weekend, Feb 12

Well, what is everyone else going to do this weekend?

We're supposed to have quilt guild, but there's a storm moving in, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to go.

I'm getting my energy back and hoping to spend quite a bit of time quilting this weekend either way, lol.  It seems like I don't really get a lot of sewing done at quilt guild anyway, lol.

Link here and let us know what you'll be up to!

Getting My MoJo Back

OK, ladies.  I'm feeling like I'm getting my mojo back.

I finally went to the doctor and they diagnosed me with Rheumatoid Arthritis.  I really did know that I had it, but finally, they did all the tests and confirmed it.

SO...they put me on some meds and now at least I have some energy.

I'm also in the process of going through my stash to figure out how I'm going to put in into my new sewing area!  I'm excited, but also a little paralyzed because I don't want to "mess it up."  How silly is that???

So, I'll get some photos up soon.

I'm working on a Bricks and Stepping Stones quilt for the husband of a friend of mine.  I'm also getting ready to quilt my daughter's quilt for her new room.

So, I just wanted to tell you all that I'm back and thank all of you that have written me emails asking how I am.  I can't tell you how awesome it is to know that there are people who think of me even thought they've never even met me in real life!
