I'm curious to know how many of you quilt and knit.
I taught myself to knit this last year, and I'm proficient in the basics, but I really would like to learn about knitting socks. So, I think I'm going to go to the local (well, local for me...60 miles away in Bismarck) quilt guild this Saturday and check it out.
I thought since I was curious, I would put up a poll, and to entice you to participate, I'll give away some sock yarn.
I thought this would be a fun yarn for a pair of lovely fall socks.
Make sure you vote and then leave a comment and I'll put you in the drawing and if you decided to blog about the give away, you can have two chances to win.
Good luck!

I have quilted for many yrs & knew how to knit in my 20's but thought it was too slow! My daughter got me into making socks 2 yrs ago & now I can't stop...I'm way ahead of her now.

I have been sewing since I was little. I learned knitting in college and have really been more of a knitter than a quilter until about two years ago. I found a quilt shop and could not believe the quality of fabrics that was available. I made quilts for my children and I have been quilting ever since. But I don't often have a lap project in quilting so I using knotting to fill that space.
I put down that I was a devoted quilter and knitter although the knitting part just recently came back to me. I have stash and several UFOs for both so I feel justified in saying I'm devoted (maybe I should be 'committed').

I have been a knitter for many, many years before I became a quilter. When I had a job with lots of flying involved, I always brought my knitting and, even though I pretty much stay put these days, now that fall is just around the corner, I'm ready to pick up my needles again and ... probably knit some socks ;-)
I do not knit. BUT my daughter does. I get her to knit for me. Knitted dishcloths and my SLIPPERS are my favorites. I purchase gift certificates and yarn for her all the time. I've tried but I love quilting too much to start a hobby that would take me away from it.
I have been knitting since my teenage years. Guess it was a knitting craze back then in Germany and everybody did it. Lately I have started up again and are mainly knitting socks. Guess what: they just busted me on Friday at Airport security in Mexico for bamboo knitting needles in my carry-on...Go figure.
I only started quilting a few years ago. I love it, but it is not as portable as knitting (though I probably have to switch to crochet for flights...). As for knitting instructions: no idea - all my info is in German and I believe some things are done differently. Good luck!
