Design Wall Monday, Feb 15

Well, I have been sewing a little...not very much, but a little.

One of my best friends has asked me to make a quilt for her hubby, so I'm working on that.

I have decided that I need to make some quilts for the men in my life in 2010...one for my hubby, my brothers, my step-father, etc.  Most of the quilts that I have made in the past have been very "girlie."

So, here's that start of my Bricks and Stepping Stones quilt:

As you can see, I'm making it with blue "bricks" and brown and cream "stepping stones."

Many of these blue prints are from a whole PILE of bricks that my friend Lori sent me...thanks, Lori...and a lot of them are Civil War Reproduction prints that I have, so they do tend to be more masculine.

Make sure you check out Judy's blog to see what everyone else is up to this week!.

Good morning Tamera,
I LOVE the idea of making quilts for men!!! Who says that they don't get cold or need to feel special? You have such a wonderful way of putting colors together--a true gift! :) I'm sure that ANYONE who is blessed enough to receive a quilt from you, will feel VERY special indeed!
Keep warm,
Dawn

You know I don't normally like browns but I love the way the colors look together in this quilt, great job.

The brown and blue look great together. I love controlled scrappy looks. I bet he will love it.

I love the colors. Definitely looks masculine. It is sometimes hard to pull off masculine with being dull but you have managed it very well.

Wow, everyone! Thanks so much for your comments! Makes me feel more and more motivated to fit in a few minutes of sewing here and there!

I, too, am making masculine quilts: some as comfort quilts for our guild charity and one for a grandson who is graudating this year. It is really a challenge to try to find fabrics that so not have flowers, especially in my stash. Judy has the right idea to have solids. ;-)

It looks great - I made a bricks and cornerstones quilt quite a while ago. I don't think I have photo of it and gave it away.

It will be a great "Man's Quilt".

A great bloke's quilt.

I love the quilt and the colors. Would those bricks be 3.5 by 6.5 with 2" leader/enders for the four-patch?
