A Finish and a Floppy

I had a finish yesterday! WooHoo!

This quilt is one I'm doing for my Quilted Table Yahoo Group. If you would like to join a group that has a monthly challenge, you're welcome. We do lots of table toppers, banners, place-mats, etc.

Obviously, this is a Valentine table topper, but I'm going to give it to my MIL. Her birthday is Valentine's Day and also, she and my FIL are allowing the Stitchin' Sisters to use the hunting lodge for our retreat this week end.

Oh my gosh, I'm SOOOOOO excited! I hope that I get a lot accomplished!

This morning, I also put together this floppy. As you can see, London felt the need to "inspect" my work.

She then felt the need to "inspect" it more closely and vigorously.

I also did a test block for that triangle quilt that I'm wanting to start.

So pretty!

How are you all doing in the New Year? I'm feeling really productive so far!

Design Wall Monday, January 14, 2013

On my design wall this morning is a block that I made out of smaller Butterfly Blocks I'm making for a swap.

I think the block turned out cute. This block will be added to a WHOLE LOT of other 1930s orphan blocks to make an orphan block quilt for donation. Can't wait to get working on that one!

I also cut out some triangles last night from some hand-dyed fabrics that I've had FOREVER. It feels so good to use up pretty fabric that you've had for a long time in your stash.

The triangles are for this quilt that I saw in a magazine.

I can't wait to get it done. Maybe I'll work on it at retreat this weekend.

Make sure that you check out what everyone else is up to at Judy's and Have a Quilty Day!

A Worthy Cause

I would like to call attention to something that I think is an awesome cause.

I don't know if any of you experienced postpartum depression (PPD), or know someone who did, but it can really be debilitating.

Margaret's Hope Chest has a new program for sending a little hope to a woman who is experiencing PPD.

I invite you to read about it here and consider being a part of this wonderful program.

Stitchin' Sisters

Tonight is Stitchin' Sisters, and I am EXCITED! Tonight we're doing a little pin cushion together. It should be fun.

Here's one of the things that I love about homeschooling. Kids doing math in their pajamas.

Design Wall Monday, January 7, 2013

I don't know about you all, but I have been feeling so productive this last week!

I finished another quilt. This one was for my son. It's been around for a while and he's been "patiently" waiting for mom to finish it.

Sorry about the photo, lol. It's wash your sheets day!

On Friday, my hubby and Miss Mariah surprised me with flowers. Rainbow Roses! Have you every heard of them? They were just lovely!

Last night, I finished a couple of Butterfly Blocks for my 1930s swap group. They should make for an interesting swap!

And, this morning, I finished up a couple of blocks that I'm going to make a Rooster Pin Cushion out of.

We'll be doing this all together at Stitchin' Sisters tomorrow night. Can't wait to see my Sistas!

Make sure you check out what everyone else is up to at Judy's and Have a Quilty Day!

Another Finish

I have finished two quilts so far this year! WooHoo.

The first one, I didn't get pictures of. How silly was that? It was a quilt that my daughter made for her sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Gross. Olivia made the quilt, I quilted it and bound it and she put a label on it. Good for her!

The second one is a Rail Fence Quilt done in brown and pink. This one just needed binding, so it went quickly.

I took a few close-up shots of the quilting. I did it a long time ago, and looking at it convinced me that I should just stick with Bottom Line thread in the bobbin. It makes the tension SO much better.

I'm still working on my inventory of quilts, but it's kind of making me discouraged to see all the quilts that I need to finish!

However, I do have a pile of finished quilts that need to be gifted or donated, so that's exciting.

Hope you're having a quilty day!

Goals for January

Judy's hosting a 2013 Getting It Done campaign and I'm planning on participating.

Each month, I'll pick four goals for that month.

Judy also has another list of things that she really wants to get done.

My list is as follows:
  1. Inventory my quilts. Write a description on a 3X5 card, take a photo and determine what needs to be done to finish each quilt.
  2. Make a list on the sidebar of my blog.
  3. Finish the two wedding quilts.
  4. Start making samples for my sample book.
That should keep me busy.

What would you like to get accomplished this month? Have a quilty day!

Happy Happy 2013

I am planning on looking back over the last few years. I've been formulating my goals. I just have to get them organized. I'm planning on 2013 being a banner year for me and my family!

Just thought I would give you a peek at what I'm working on. It's a quilt for my sister Nancy.

This little "star" in the sashing is SO fun. I think it just makes the quilt. It takes a while, but I think it will be worth it. I'll show you more as I finish.

LOTS of quilting to be done this year. I would like to get a list of all the tops I have and then cross them off as I finish. It's so fun to see them get crossed off.

Hope you have a quilty day. It's supposed to snow today. Whether it does or not, it's kind of gloomy and it's pretty cold outside, so I think I'll stay in and quilt, lol.
